Pray For What: Hundreds of Unspoken Terrorist Attacks Since November

Since the fateful Paris terrorist attacks in November, hundreds of other attacks have occurred around the world with ISIS and Al-Qaeda taking the brunt of the blame, willingly so. However, many of the attacks since November have flown under the radar. Bluntly put, most of the attacks that have avoided media headlines occurred everywhere besides the first world countries.

Turkey, Somalia, Indonesia—who’s to say that the western world seldom cares for these countries and the terrorist attacks they endure? Still, anyone conscious in the social media world can see that no one is “praying” for Bamako, Istanbul, or Jakarta.

Some can argue apathy, others can argue an institutionalized de-sensitivity of third world affairs – as much as flags go up for Paris, Brussels or even San Bernardino, the rest of the world is going unnoticed on the topic of terrorist attacks. Numbers like Paris; 130 people dead in one night, have been unseen since then, but nonetheless, attacks worthy of mass media coverage have occurred.

Pri.org was courteous enough to provide a visual map, via Google, showcasing all of the places in the world that have endured a terrorist strike.

Cities that come up: Jakarta, Bamako, Tunis, Istanbul, Ouagadougou, Ankara, Mogadishu, and Grand-Bassam. These cities suffered casualties in the high 30 numbers. Kenya, Mali, Bardo and Beyrouth were among many other cities that did not make the map.
