SUNY Old Westbury’s Panther Pride Homecoming

The 12th annual Panther Pride homecoming ended with the selection at the formal event of Alejandro Mateo as king and Joy ALonge as queen. Festivities included the Fall Festival, the International Food Fair, the Faculty vs. Staff softball game, a Fraternity and Sorority Expo, an Alumni Meet and Greet, a flag football pick-up game, and many more.

Expectations for this year’s Homecoming were high as always, especially when it came to the Homecoming committee who helped to plan this year’s events.

Vice President of Student Affairs and Chief Diversity Officer, Usama Shaikh, who is also Co-Chair of the Homecoming Committee, said before the event, “The members of the Panther Pride Committee are very excited about the upcoming Homecoming events. We have worked hard to put together events that we expect will meet the interests of all members of the Old Westbury community.”

The Dean of Students and Co-Chair of the Homecoming Committee, Claudia Marin-Andrade, stated prior to the festivities, “Due to the collaborative approach in having students, faculty, and staff on the planning committee, I think all of the events will go over [with teachers and students] very well.”
