Tiger Woods is “in good spirits” after being relocated to a nearby trauma center in Los Angeles for treatment from injuries he sustained in a car accident. On February 23rd around 7 am, Woods was driving in Rancho Palos Verdes when he hit a curb and then shifted his vehicle into a tree. According to reports, the vehicle was going downhill in an area prone to many accidents of a similar fashion. He was extricated out of the SUV and sent to UCLA Medical Center following the accident. He had received successful “follow-up procedures” at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Woods suffered a fractured leg and shattered ankle in Tuesday’s accident. No criminal charges will be made over the single-car crash.
The golfer and his family thanked well-wishers for the support and messages they have received over the past few days. Doctors said he had fractures on the tibia of his lower right leg and a rod was inserted into the tibia. Injuries to his foot and ankle were stabilized with screws and pins. After his stay in UCLA Medical Center, he was moved to Cedars- Sinai for continuing orthopaedic care and recovery.
His SUV struck the central reservation, crossed into the opposite lane, rolled over several times and then plunged off the road. So far, police said there are no signs of impairment, but the crash is currently under investigation. This is still a terrible incident because we do not want to see any bad happening to Tiger Woods or those around him.
After a long successful golfing career and the mentorship of his children, nobody wants to see another man go down like this. It is very fortunate that he survived and his vehicle is still intact because some people may not have been able to make it. He recently said he had hoped to recover from his back surgery in time to play in this year’s Masters in April.
