Kat Williams has returned to comedy with one of his most honest specials yet. The legendary comedian, known for his roles in Next Friday and Wildin Out as well as for his previous comedy specials American Hustle and Pimp Chronicles, has gifted his fans with another amazing comedy tour. This tour, World War III, includes comedians such as Lunelle, Mark Curry, Red Grant and more. Kat Williams can be most recently seen in the movie Meet the Blacks 2, which premiered in June. However, prior to that, fans have been wondering where Williams has been.
Fortunately, he hasn’t missed a beat. Williams had a few run-ins with the law in recent years and says that he has been laying low and staying off the radar to stay out of trouble. In his new special, he goes into how he’s accomplishing this. Williams creates comedic relief during the wake of the pandemic and shares many of his perspectives on politics and conspiracy theories. According to Jacksonville.com, it says “His thought-provoking style of comedy questions the normal ideas that we in society are all familiar with and accept.” Some people likened his set to a church sermon. “His words were revealing and enlightening” says China Gilliam of Central Islip who attended the comedy special at the Barclays’s Center in Brooklyn NY, on October 9th.
Williams’ headliners carved a nice opening for him as they set the stage with risqué humor on taboo subjects. Kat Williams is known to speak on polarizing topics, and so did his opening comedians. Mark Curry, known for his TV show Hanging with Mr. Cooper in the 90’s, was a blast from the past and just as funny as he was 25 years ago. Lunelle stunned the audience with her shocking opinions and Red Grant kept the crowd thoroughly entertained as the host.
By the time Kat reached the stage, the audience had already been opened-up to the vulgar and forbidden humor that Kat is known for. Williams’ main topic of his special was “Truth.” He believes that most of what we’re told is a lie, and he wanted to open our eyes to the truth. He named the special World War III because he feels that we are already in our 3rd world war.
However instead of using bombs and guns, we are in a mental and spiritual war where the minds of the people are being destroyed. Although most of his set contained opinions, they were opinions that had the power to make listeners re-evaluate their own. When asked about conspiracy theories, Kat said that “We know that there are conspiracies out there, but this is a conversation that encompasses a lot of things that aren’t being discussed [in] other places. That’s the basis for all conspiracy theories: the fact that there is hidden information out there, and how our process changes about things that we thought we used to know.” Kat doesn’t really tell jokes, he is a funny motivational speaker; he is a preacher and his religion is comedy. His World War III special did not disappoint, and I consider Kat Williams to be one of the G.O.A.T.S (greatest of all time) of Stand-up Comedy. If you have an opportunity to see or hear Williams and don’t mind some profanity and politically incorrect humor, I highly recommend it.
