Elden Ring is such an infuriating joyride that should be enjoyed by everyone, even if it spikes your blood pressure. Elden Ring is developed by FromSoftware, who are known for their Dark Soul series and spin offs such as Bloodborne. It was also written by George R.R. Martin, who wrote the best selling book series A Song of Ice and Fire, which is the basis for the hit HBO show, Game of Thrones.
Elden Ring follows a similar game style to other FromSoftware games, where they make extremely difficult games that are rewarding once you complete them. The writing of George R.R. Martin also steps up the story of the game and makes it more unique than any other Souls’ game FromSoftware has developed.
The boss fights in the game are so infuriating because of how difficult they are, but they are so varied from one boss to another making it such a joy to learn the different fights, and once you conquer them it’s such a reward. The soundtrack for the game helps with the immersion and intensity of these fights.
The game has so much replay value with the game having different classes that can add variety to the game.
While the game’s biggest strength is its difficulty, it’s also the games biggest weakness. People who become annoyed easily by game mechanics or simply don’t want to spend hours learning a single enemy attack pattern and traversing the same landscapes after you die wouldn’t enjoy this game. Also, at the time of writing this, the game does have technical issues as well when it comes to the frame rate on all systems with it chugging at times.
The game is so anger inducing not because it’s broken but in the fact that you know you can do better. While it’s the common mindset to try and try again until you beat the game, it’s fine to skip the boss for now and return stronger to kill them. Elden Ring is worth the price to play but it’s not for everyone, so wait for a sale if this doesn’t seem up your alley but you feel it’s worth trying at some point.
