SUNY Old Westbury’s Student Government Association (SGA) held their bi-annual, Club Bash, in the Campus Center Atrium on Thursday, February 3, during the college’s common hour.
The event featured participation from 50 Greek-letter, commuter, social, and cultural organizations on campus. Board members outlined the distinctive characteristics of their club while promoting the successes and missions of their organizations.
Students had the chance to socialize with other attendees and staff members, sign up for different clubs and organizations, eat free popcorn, and enjoy a dance competition to cap off the night.
Some of the clubs and organizations that attended the event were the OW Rainbow Club, the Photography Club, the Psychology Club, the Social Justice Club, the Nazakat Bollywood Fusion Dancing Club, the Accounting Organization, and the Student Government Association.
Also, the Athletic Center and the Center for Student Leadership and Involvement had tables at the event.
There were two rows of tables on each side of the Atrium decorated with different colored tablecloths. A variety of free samples was provided for students.
According to a YouTube video titled “Club Bash 2013,” Victoria Dehal, a former student, said that she attended the event because, as a commuter, she didn’t always know what was going on. She said it was important for her to attend those kinds of events at school.
Attending Club Bash is also a good opportunity for students to get involved in leadership positions.
This semester’s Club Bash was a total success! There were more than 100 students. Some faculty members were also present throughout the event. Students and the former school photographer took photos during the event.
Club Bash is not only an event, but it is also an opportunity for students to de-stress and have fun while learning more about all the possibilities that school offers through different clubs and organizations of all kinds.
