On April 12th, SUNY Old Westbury held their annual Spring Career Fair in the Campus Center Atrium during Common Hour. The event was open to all juniors and seniors at SUNY Old Westbury in order for them to meet and connect with different employers for job opportunities post graduation, and even internships for this upcoming summer and fall.

There were many different employers that were at this event. Some of these employers include Achieve Beyond, Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Cox Media Group, Good Shepherd Volunteers (which is a Post-Graduation Paid Service), New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, ScribeAmerica, and the United States Postal Inspection Service.

Upon arrival at the event, students were greeted by staff members who are a part of the Career Planning and Development. Their office is located on the second floor of the Campus Center in the H-wing, room 211. At the Career Planning and Development office, students can get help from the extremely friendly staff in order to apply for internships and even jobs for their post-grad life.

“We want our current students and even alumni to have a successful life and career after graduation and with our resources at our office they can do so,” said Marleene Bhan, who is the Career Counselor at SUNY Old Westbury. The current office hours for the Career Planning and Development office is Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9am-7pm and Wednesday and Friday from 9am-5pm. You can schedule an appointment in-person with the Career Planning and Development team or virtually via phone call, email, or by video chat via Microsoft Teams.

If students missed the event, there are still places that they can look in order to reach out to employers for potential job/internship opportunities. Students can access Handshake, which is a website where employers can post part-time, full-time, internship, and even volunteer opportunities.
