The VMAs took place Tuesday, September 12, 2023. There were so many artists that performed on stage. The two performances that stood out the most were by Shakira and P. Diddy. Both artists were nominated and won the biggest awards of the night.
Shakira performed some of her iconic songs like “Hips Don’t Lie,” “Whenever, Whenever,” among other songs, as well. Her performance was great. The crowd was excited to see her perform because they were screaming and singing along to all of her songs. She transitioned to each song so smoothly that you were able to tell which song she was going to sing next. During the last songs she performed, Shakira went into the crowd and crowd-surfed.
During her performance, Taylor Swift, Damiano David and Victoria De Anglies from the band Måneskin, and other artists stood up while they danced and sang along to her songs.

After her great performance, she won the MTV Video Vanguard Awards for 2023. The award means a lifetime of achievements during the artist’s career, including the impact they had on the music industry and on pop culture. Other outstanding artists such as Michael Jackon (1988), Britney Spears (2011), Justin Timberlake (2013), and George Michael (1989) have won this award in the past. The Latina singer gave an amazing speech, thanking the people she loves and she gave a big shout out to the Latino Community for all the love and support they’ve given her in her successful career.

P. Diddy’s performance was amazing. He sang all of his iconic songs like “I’ll Be Missing You,” “Mo Money Mo Problems,” and “Last Night,” among other great iconic hits.
To sing along with the iconic pop singer, he brought out Keyshia Cole. Yung Miami and other notable artists came out to perform with him during his great performance. Mary J. Blige and his daughter were seen singing and dancing along.

Diddy won the MTV Global Icon Awards. He has sold over five hundred million albums in his career. He was given the awards to show all of his major success in his career. His daughter was given the honor to help present her father with the award.
