The annual Academic Discovery Fest took place on September 20 from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Campus Center Atrium. Approximately 50 students and 30 faculty members were in attendance at the event.
Students and faculty were able to play bingo at over 40 academic and departmental tables. Students could enter a raffle by completing a bingo card, visiting each table, and getting a sticker if they had the name of the table on their bingo card.
The winners had the chance to win Apple AirPods, Bluetooth speakers, UberEATS gift cards, and many more prizes.
Students from the TV studio were also present at the festival, they recorded some parts of the event and interviewed students and faculty.
There were freebies, candies, and information available at the tables, which had green tablecloths with the names of academic programs or school departments such as Trio, study abroad, SGA, and others.
The physics table had students performing an experiment to create a sticky substance using glue, water, and some other substances.
The Study Abroad table had a tic-tac-toe game where students had to look at some images from different countries and guess which countries were in each image.
There was an advertisement in the English department for Harmonia and Discordia to encourage students to participate and submit different writing pieces.
Food was provided on a table in the middle of the room for faculty and students to serve themselves whenever they were done looking at the tables.
The festival helped students discover new majors, minors, and micro credentials while they connected with academic support services. It was a total success! It was fun, engaging, and dynamic, giving students a space to socialize and learn at the same time..
