SUNY Old Westbury celebrated Hispanic Heritage month with a fun evening of tacos, salsa dancing, and Latin music. The event was in the Campus Center Atrium and Meadows Terrace from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.September 19th sponsored by the Campus Activities Board (CAB).

It was an interactive event for students to learn and support Hispanic Heritage. There were more than fifty students in attendance, and a line was already forming for the food truck in the rear exit of the atrium by the start of the event.

The evening kicked off with a salsa instructor teaching step-by-step moves along with music. Many participants did their best to keep up with the instructor. The instructor, Adelina, a dance instructor that owns a studio off campus, helped students find their rhythm, giving them an experience they’d never forget.

One participant Jodelis said, “it was an amazing experience. I learned a lot, and I finally learned how to salsa dance.”

The step-by-step dance portion of the activity lasted one hour and was followed by delicious food from a food truck called “Tasted Buddyz,” that served various delicious meals. The truck served tacos, empanadas, quesadillas, chicken, chorizo, chicken fingers, churro waffles, as well as many more delicious cuisines featured on the menu.

One participant, Danny, said, “The food is good and hot. I waited in line for some time, but it was worth the wait.”

The line for the food truck was long, with lots of participants waiting patiently to get a taste of the different foods on the menu.
