Darkness Rising Haunted House

On Saturday, October 14, I went to the Darkness Rising Haunted House on Long Island in Copiague. The tickets are $38.00 plus tax. There were two types of haunted houses: Darkness Rising and Jack the Ripper. It is completely indoors and dark inside. Once you enter one of the houses, it will bring you to the other. You are not allowed to record, take pictures, flash lights, drink, smoke, and touch the props or actors.

Darkness Rising is the first house you go into. You have to wait in line to enter the actual house part. Random people come up to you and scare you before entering, wearing all black robes with hoods that cover their faces. You also hear people yelling and screaming as they walk through the house.

Once you have entered the house, you notice it is pitched black with smoke appearing. All you hear is people hitting things against the walls. As you keep walking into different rooms, people dressed up in costumes try to scare you and chase you. There are also things hanging from the ceiling that jump out at you.

Once you enter “Jack the Ripper’s Reign of Terror,” you get a creepy sensation. You had to crawl on the floor to get into the next part and there were objects on the floor. Then, you hear a noise and before you know it, a guy is chasing you from behind, which causes everyone to get scared and start running. As you keep going, it gets scarier. People scream at you and tell you what to do as they are holding objects in their hands as if they were going to hit you with them.

The whole experience was so cool and scary at the same time. In the beginning, I felt anxious and nervous, because I didn’t know what to expect. All you have to go by is what you see and hear. Once you get inside, it’s a different story. The fear and your mind take over because you don’t know what is going to happen or what you’re going to see. This event only happens once each year during the month of October.
