In the deserts of Abu Dhabi history has taken place with a loaded card in UFC 294. In this highly anticipated matchup between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski, the fans got what they paid for.
Originally the Champion of the 155 lb division was set to fight the number one contender and former Champion Charles Oliveira. With just 11 days away from the fight, Oliveira was forced to pull out with a cut on his eye from sparring.
With only 10 days notice, the champion of the 145 lb division, Alexander Volkanovski stepped up to the plate to face Islam Makhachev for the second time. Their first fight was in front of Volkanovski’s home crowd in Australia. The bout was razor thin and came down to judging.
The judges had it favored 3 rounds to 2 giving Makhachev the victory in Australia. Many people in Australia and around the world thought Volkanovski won that fight.
In their second fight it was now Islam hearing the roars of the Muslim crowd in Abu Dhabi and Volkanovski was now in enemy territory.
Dawson was this heavy of a favorite because of his advantage in wrestling, it was expected he would dominate Green.
Green came out in his unique style with his hands at his waist tempting Dawson to strike with him. Green switched stance and landed a left straight that put Dawson down. With follow-up shots on the ground, the fight was over.

Joe Pyfer had a great submission win over the dangerous Abdul Razak Hassan in a first round filled with fireworks. Drew Dober showed off his power by getting a K.O win over Rick Glenn in the first round. Bill Algeo showed off his skillset against Alexander Hernandez with a 3-round decision victory.
