In November, the SUNY Old Westbury Athletics Department appointed Max Finkelstein as the new athletics communications director. Finkelstein’s responsibilities will include overseeing and reporting on all 12 athletic teams at SUNY Old Westbury.
According to the Old Westbury Panthers website, Finkelstein spent the last two years working in the Athletics Communications department at Ithaca College, his alma mater. Prior to working there, he attended Ithaca, where he studied toward his degree and was a member of the rowing team. Finkelstein also spent time doing an internship with the New York Mets working in their marketing and broadcasting departments.
His journey has now brought him to Old Westbury, where he says he is “excited about the opportunity to further the goals and visions of OW athletics and be a part of a growing and rebuilding department.” He also states that he chose Old Westbury for its “beautiful campus and incredible people that [he looks] forward to working with.”
Finkelstein brings a lot of skill and experience to the athletics department, making it pretty clear he will fit right into the role with ease. Finkelstein is not only excited about his new role, but is extremely motivated, as well. He states, “I hope to improve our presence on social media, local media, and beyond. I want people to be able to know and recognize SUNY Old Westbury athletics so we can celebrate the many achievements of our student athletes and coaches.” This is yet another amazing opportunity for Finkelstein and an awesome opportunity for SUNY Old Westbury and their athletic teams. For Finkelstein, he couldn’t be more excited about the “endless possibilities that this position presents and the ability to make [his] goals and aspirations a reality.”
