SUNY Old Westbury’s fashion club Glamazon hosted its annual fashion show at the Maguire Theater on April 26 drawing attention to the creativity and skill of its student members.  The show highlighted a diverse collection of clothes ranging from elegant outfits to streetwear inspired looks.

The theme for Glamazon’s 2024 Fashion Show was “space.” Some performers dressed as planets. They incorporated colors and patterns that matched their planets.

Senior psychology major Marie Seraphin walked along the runway dressed as the planet Jupiter. “It was very hectic since we had to keep changing into different outfits backstage and it was very packed,” she said, “but it was enjoyable.”

For her Jupiter, she focused on bringing in brown and tan colors. For her second look, Seraphin incorporated a metallic style with a glitter inspired makeup look to show off her shimmery outfit.

Performers arrived at noon for hair and makeup and stayed until the show began. Behind the scenes, a crew of students helped with makeup, hair, and final changes for the performers.

“At first, we only practiced once a week, but when it was closer to the performance date, we would practice twice or three times a week,” Seraphin said. “The week of the show, practice would be from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.”

Students showed off their styles in different ways by walking the runway or dancing it off.  In one segment called “Chaos,” students showed off their outfits while walking in different directions.

Glamazon’s fashion show provided a stage for students to display their artistic side and passion for fashion. They collaborated with other artists and shared their world with the college community.
