As of September 20, the SUNY Old Westbury Men’s Soccer team is making impressive strides this season, holding an overall record of 4-6-1. With four wins, six losses, and a tie against Five Towns College, the Panthers are demonstrating significant progress compared to last year’s 4-9-2 finish, already reaching a .409 winning percentage.
The Panthers kicked off the season with a hard-fought loss against Yeshiva College (0-1) but quickly found their footing, winning their next two matches and building momentum. Despite a recent tough loss to Manhattanville (0-1) on September 18, the team remains optimistic as they prepare to face more conference opponents.
Led by their captain Ashel Santos- a junior- and senior Randy Parada, the team has embraced a new mindset, poised for a great season. “This season we have a lot of potential,” said Santos. “We’ve played well against the top teams in the conference, and going forward, I believe we will do very well, making us good playoff contenders.” Parada supported his captain’s confidence, adding, “We are on a different type of mindset and mentality this year of wanting to win and wanting to get better.”
While the road hasn’t been without its challenges, the O.W. Men’s Soccer team is staying positive and focused, with their eyes set on making a deep run in the playoffs. As the season unfolds, the team’s commitment to growth and winning will be the driving force behind their continued success. Keep an eye on the Panthers as they look to build on their strong start and make waves in the conference.
