While serving orders of curly fries and chicken tenders at Diner 223, Maria Grande Jimenez, tells about how she has been working for 13 years for the Chartwells Company. She found this job through the union. Her regular schedule is 8:30am-4:30pm four days a week and she works at the cafeteria on Saturdays, her job usually consist of running the food from the kitchen to the front and works at the register.
At the sandwich shop she prepares the student’s sandwiches and sometimes the register also. When it’s time for her break she chooses some of the healthier options from Tu Taco, the taco salad with grilled chicken. When at home, some of the food she enjoys includes making salads, a lot of vegetable-based foods, and sometimes a classic dish from her home country of El Salvador, pupusas.
Some of the things that she enjoys about working at the Panther’s Den are the benefits she receives from the company, the long breaks, and she the decent pay. She enjoys the good relationships she has made with her co-workers and bosses here, and she said, “I have never had a problem with the kids here, they’re good kids.” When asked about the new improvements at the deli she stated that she enjoys the new food options, the healthier bread and the wider variety.
