Almost everything around the world has been affected by COVID-19 pandemic. Sporting events have been canceled, schools are closed, like our very own SUNY Old Westbury, and toilet paper and other essentials are flying off the shelves faster than Sonic the Hedgehog can run around the world.
Even though there are all the negatives, there are somehow some positives. For one thing, even though people are out of work and are now finding it hard to make a living by having to continue professions from home, this could actually be beneficial for people who fit the bill here, because rather than having to go to the office day in and day out, they can now stay home and spend more time with family, time that they would have definitely missed out on had they still be working from an office.
Also, even though non-essential businesses have been forced to close and or adjust the way they do business, these businesses are finding a way to make things work, as well. For instance, restaurants such as Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC, and others have offered drive-thru service or delivery through apps such as DoorDash, Grubhub, Postmates, and Uber Eats, which means that people can still get their favorite out-of-the-house food without having to worry about being exposed to COVID-19.
Finally, the aspect we have had to start practicing known as social distancing in an attempt to reduce the number of people who contract the coronavirus and keep people out of hospitals seems to be working as recently, New York Mayor Bill De Blasio and Governor Andrew Cuomo have gone on record stating that social distancing has been helping in reducing the amounts of sick people in New York, while also encouraging people to keep up their efforts in order to eventually overcome the pandemic.
So, while there are definitely more negatives than positives when it comes to the COVID-19 pandemic that has happened lately, we must also consider the fact that there are a couple of pros that seem to prove as the light at the end of the tunnel for Americans, and, also, those around the world.
