Babylon’s Fall: The Worst Game of 2022

Babylon’s Fall is one of the worst games to come out for the ninth generation of consoles and one of the worst games to come out so far in 2022 by a triple company. Babylon’s Fall was developed by Square Enix platinum games who also worked on Bayonetta, Astral Chains, and a personal favorite for me Nier: Automata. With all those games under their belt you’d expect this game to at least be decent, but you’d be wrong.

The only solid bit of the game is the combat aspect, with it being developed by Platinum Games it should be good. The loop of the game is also just ok. It’s the bare minimum for a looter shooter, the main goal of the looter shooter is to get better gear until you hit the game’s ceiling.

By far the worst thing about Babylon’s Fall is the lack of originality. The game copies so many different elements from better games, such as dark souls and monster hunter, but makes them significantly worse. The game also just feels significantly dull and after doing the same gameplay loop a few times feels like a chore to play. After a few hours, with the game clocking in at 15 hours in total, it completely overstays its welcome.

The game also just looks ugly and unpleasant. The models and world look more like an Xbox 360 and PS3 game than a game that came out with hardware like the PS5 and Xbox series X available.

This game had so much potential, but Platinum Games dropped the ball, and needs to go back to the drawing board for their next game. What adds salt to the wound is the fact that this game is worth $60 at its current state; it’s not even worth 20 dollars.

I’d stay far away from Babylon’s Fall. I would recommend playing any other game, such as the new Elden Ring or any dark souls or monster hunter game or any of Platinum Games previous works if you are looking for something new to play.
